Some guy came at 8 o;clock at night?

a guy that works for pinnacle security, well that what his name tag and promontion paper says came at 8 in the night to offer some sale. my sister showed him the house and the basement that we are rented (we have an license to rent) and they talked and he gave her contact number. is this a scam, since i am looking online, i see pinnacle security website. what kind of person would come to here at night time.
